WordPress is better than Joomla! Really?

joomla support coach trainer cheshire manchester merseyside ukI could not believe what I was reading when, admittedly a few years ago, I happened upon a Wordpress developer's website and read their hatchet job of the Joomla! CMS.

Now, to be sure, no Content Management System (CMS) is perfect, back then or today!

But those who live in glass houses would be well advised not to throw stones.

More websites are created using Wordpress than Joomla! but which is more secure?

You could take a few hours to read complex evaluations to form a view.

But if time is a luxury then you could do worse than visit the following two SUCURI Blog links to see what this security specialist has had to say in the present and recent past about each CMS.

When you do, look at the dates.

So is Wordpress better than Joomla!

As the old proverb goes: beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

You form your own judgement, but for what its worth this is what I posted in response to the Wordpress developer's hatchet job. some five years ago.

{slider WordPress gives users more than 12,000 plugins as compared to just about 6,000 in Joomla!|closed}

Since when has QUANTITY ever trumped QUALITY?

Anyone got time to try all 12,000 plugins?

We would advise using as few plugins as possible (whatever CMS - content management system - you use) if you want to reduce the risk of being hacked.

95% of our customers use less than 12 plugins.

Joomla! works great out of the box without you having to search high and low for extra bits of kit.

Imagine trying 11,988 plugins before alighting on the 12 you actually need!

{slider There are limited free templates in Joomla! whereas WordPress has more than 1,200 free themes}

There is no such thing as FREE unless you don't value your time!

Anyone got time to try all 1200 themes before making a decision?

Ever heard the phrase 'all fur coat and no knickers'?

What your website DOES is far more important than how it LOOKS.

We focus on the DOING bit.

Our customers are free to choose from the THOUSANDS of free Joomla! templates out there!

Our customers choose a WYNCHCO template because they can easily change its look and feel.

{slider WordPress is easy to install and many new users find it easier to understand as it is less complex}

All CMSs are easy to install using the application installer provided by ALL good web hosting companies.

All CMSs are equally complex and that is why people like me specialise in providing our services to end users.

We will install the Joomla! CMS for you when you choose a WYNCHCO Joomla! CMS Support Solution.

But we are also more than happy to install a Wordpress CMS for customers if they want one.

We don't yet provide Wordpress CMS Support, but we might in the future.

Why? We are open-minded!

{slider Joomla! is not recommended for first-time users and is not an easy CMS to install}

Really? Who says so? One Wordpress developer who appears not to like Joomla!

All CMSs, including Wordpress, require the user to spend some time learning how to use it.

We support WYNCHCO customers with our Joomla! User Guide.

Perhaps aggrieved Wordpress developers could better spend their time providing similar such support to Wordpress users.

Rather than bitching about Joomla!

{slider When it comes to SEO, Joomla can test your patience}

Reading these unfounded statements (as shown here in bold) by a fellow developer is what tests my patience!

Joomla! is fantatsic for SEO, as proven by WYNCHCO customers who use the Joomla! CMS.

{slider WordPress makes life easy because it needs simple configuring}

If Wordpress makes life so easy then how come so many web design companies are engaged in gainful employment providing support for Wordpress users?

All those Wordpress Plugins certainly seem to make life easy for hackers.

This view is borne out by the frequent reference to Wordpress in the SUCURI Blog.

THE MORAL OF THIS STORY

Beware of false prophets.

Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

There were 7.125 billion people in the World in 2013, more now!

Surely these people would like to choose for themselves whether to use Wordpress, Joomla! or some other CMS.

To show no hard feelings, here's a link to Wordpress: www.wordpress.com.

There is NO best CMS!

This is according to the CMS Critic website.

We agree. It is a matter of 'horses for courses'!
