How often do you check the End of Life status of your phone and its operating system?
If you are like me then not very often.
But not any more because I have just received a wake up call whilst searching for a fix for my old smartphone.
With no quick fix on the horizon I decided to replace it.
Whereupon my use of a really useful phone spec comparison website indicated that not only my phone but also its operating system had recently reached End of Life.
Meaning: no more security updates for either!
I had been patiently waiting for prompts from the manufacturer and the operating system developer to take action: replace the phone.
But there had been none.
The onus was clearly on me to check!
And the lesson is: get organised
I have now made a note in my diary to periodically separately check the end of life status of my phone and its operating system.
And to budget to replace my phone every 2-3 years.
